Available from the 30th March to 31st July 2018 accessing  Balmoral  Castle.

Balmoral is now closed for this summer, Winter tours will be available from the 24th October 2018

Follow the beautiful River Dee as it meanders upstream into the heart of Royal Deeside with plenty of photo stops along the way to take in the magnificent views. Our Day in Royal Deeside will continue with a stunning drive up Glen Muick to Loch Muick, a good spot to see some wildlife. With fantastic views of Lochnagar, this is the real mountainous part of the royal estate of Balmoral. A return to Ballater will give you an opportunity to explore the beautiful town on the River Dee with a range of cafes, restaurants and shops available for your lunch. The tour continues upstream along the Dee to Crathie, the home of Balmoral, the Scottish home to the Royal Family. It was purchased by Prince Albert in 1852 for Queen Victoria who had fallen in love with Scotland after her first visit. A trip to Balmoral is not complete without a visit to the stunning Crathie Kirk where Queen Victoria laid the foundation stone in 1893, and the Queen and royal family regularly attend church services here along with the local parish. The tour will then go on to Balmoral Castle and it’s grounds. There will be an opportunity to look round the castle, but not all rooms are open to the public as these are Her Majesty the Queen’s very own private rooms. You will also get access to the formal and vegetable gardens. There is some flexibility in the tour at this point with the option to walk up to Prince Albert’s memorial with beautiful views of the area or perhaps a tour at the Royal Lochnagar Distillery, your guide will work with you to help you decide what you would prefer. If time allows, a visit to Cambus O’May or Burn O’Vat will complete your tour on the return journey. The order of visits and itinerary is flexible depending on the weather and the best time of day to visit the sites.
